9.00 am in Thailand on Saturday. I am unrepentant as an academic - I love words. Indeed, I am saddened that my vocabulary is less accessible to me now because I speak a much simplied English here.

Have a restful and pleasant weekend. [heart]

Is it possible that I have found a kindred spirit? I have strong criticisms of most national politicians and governments in the world. So many seem to be more interested in themselves, their power and their financial gain. They are not serving the public, their constituents, but are self-serving.

Philosophcally, rather than party politics, I am slightly left wing and, while valuing economic security, I put more priority on humanitarian values. As I was in the 70s, "personal is political" and "no form of discrimination or disempowerment will end until all forms of discrimination or disempowerment end".

Sounds like we're on the same page, Ray. I'm sure we have some differences, but I've yet to meet anyone I agree with 100%. What a boring world that would be. :-p

[Laughing] Yes, I'm sure that we have differences. I didn't say "soulmate" or "identical twin". Kindred - belonging to the same tribe, family group or kinship. I already love you as my kith and maybe as my kin. I am being too pedantic so I will apologise.

Thank God! For your email!! I accidentally ‘archived’ this article and wanted to share it, because is so resonated with my soul. You see, I’m a Dutch ex-pat/Legal Alien, residing in the US for 40 years. I cannot vote and don’t get into politics. But I love the quote by Ray Bradbury. In life and philosophy, one has to stand independently on one’s own two feet. But strong are the legs that can bear the glory of fame without caving in to grandiosity and ‘better then’ sentiments. We see so many live examples of people getting too full of themselves.

So very true, Han. Thanks for your kind comment! I'm glad some of my rambling soapbox/waxing nostalgic resonated. I try to keep things relatively apolitical here, but living these days is political. Reasonable minds are welcome to disagree...but they're not welcome to be disagreeable. That gets folks blocked. Debates are for high school. Adult converse and discourse, in my opinion. All of our experiences contribute to seeing different views of the world and we're better for it.
