I used "That's what friends for" to end my week-long HIV Counselling Transformative Workshops. I concentrated on attitude shifts and emotional connection far more than information about HIV/AIDS.
Spiritually, as a mystic seer, I see everyone as part of the Oneness of Being. Spiritually, there is only one spirit in the universe. There are no individuals, except that we inhabit mortal bodies for a very short time, from time to time. Living incarnations are "individual" because we are usually unaware of our spiritual unity. We are never alone, independent. There are always others who are sufficiently spiritually aware and insightful (after countless life-times) to sense that we are all the same unity in spirit. These are true friends, unconditionally loving. All having a sense, a connection, that we are part of a spiritual unity. Helping each other because it means that we are actually helping ourselves - there is no separation. We are part of the Oneness of Being. I am you. You are me.
I feel this so deeply, Clint! I completely understand where you are coming from and where you want to go. I have experinced some of those transactional relationships you mentioned and I have experienced times when I have asked for help and being too much for the person as well. Both reinforce those beliefs that I am better off alone. It is hard, but it is worth the discomfort when we get to live in community with the right ones. I think you are amazing and I hope you feel that too! Any person would be lucky to do life with you!
Also, thank you so much for the shout out. I am so nervous about all of this. Your words awhile back definitely prodded me here ❤️
Oh, Coach Ricky…you’re off to a beautiful, heartfelt start with your Substack. And I appreciate the fellow vulnerability, my fellow Texan. Hang tough…and stay warm and fuzzy too! Cheers
"No Man Is An Island", Dear Clint! (On "After Bathing At Baxters" by Jefferson Airplane, at the end of "A Small Package of Value Will Come to You, Shortly", someone yells out "No Man Is An Island" twice. Another member of the band replies with "He's a Peninsula", this is followed by a hearty har har laugh, and the next song begins.) See offers as a type of love and don't be afraid to ask. Jus' sayin'
Thank you, Larry. Considering I asked my ex-boyfriend to install a bidet over the weekend, I think I’ve learned how to ask for help. It might sound weird, but was our relationship…and our friendship continues the tradition. We’re both weirdos and his magic trick is installing bidet. Talk about a specialist, huh? :-p
Loved the way the song was done in the video. Really special.
What a voice that kid has! Cheers!
Deeply resonate with all of this, Clint. And the Robin Crauwels cover got me all misty-eyed, too. 🥹💗
Cheers, Keith…dry up, buttercup. :-p :-*
