Last night, my roommate and I treated his brother and a few of his friends to a “guy’s night” out at TopGolf. Picture it: two gay dudes and four straight dudes laughing, eating, drinking, and competing to see who could whack tiny golf balls the farthest into the ether.
I wasn’t feeling up to playing, but I was more than happy to be there—surrounded by all that testosteroni—holding court at our table, working my way through some solid bar food, and soaking in the all-guy camaraderie.
From my perch, I had a front-row view of every swing, every miss, and every thwack. And something even better: beyond the nets, perfectly framed in the warm August night, rose the Full Sturgeon Moon.
It was massive—a golden, glowing orb hanging low in the sky, radiating the kind of beauty that makes you want to reach for your camera. But I didn’t. I couldn’t.
Not because I didn’t want the memory, but because in that moment, the moon commanded my full attention. A photo would have been a pale imitation of the awe I felt, that gentle reminder of how small I am in the grand scheme of things.
Sometimes, you just have to forget the photo and remember the experience.
So I sat there in my tall bar chair, grinning quietly to myself, while the guys swung their clubs and the world spun beneath that luminous orb.
I may not have a photo of the moment, but I’ll always remember it. Fondly.
Keep calm and look closer!

Yeah, sometimes you don’t need to capture everything. It captures you. 😊
I'm here too! I enjoyed the story and that You and the Moon became a part of the whole experience! I'm just as happy you did not take a photo of it, as it would somehow diminish the reality of it all.
Take care with Peace & Love,
LL
