Monday, I worked out with a trainer for the first time in years.
Yesterday, I visited the Getty Center for the first time in almost as long.
Today, I woke up so sore I could barely get out of bed.
Everything hurts. And I’m kinda, sorta loving it.
It’s the good kind of sore, the kind that reminds me my body’s been pushed, moved, challenged. Muscles waking up, stretching out, and saying, “Oh, hey, we’re still here!”
On Monday, I worked out my body at the gym. On Tuesday, I refilled my creative well by traipsing over travertine terrains to appreciate art and photos that inspire and require me to slow down.
And now, on Wednesday, I’m here with my aching muscles and a buzzing brain, feeling like I might have overdone it. But that ache, stiffness, and fatigue? They’re proof I showed up and did what I committed to doing. They’re proof that even after years away from certain things, I can step back in and surprise myself.
So yes, OW! But it’s only for NOW, so WOW!!!
Keep calm and stretch on…

P.S. For those interested, the Queer Lens exhibit has an amazing companion book available (link = Amazon affiliate). I’ll be adding this to my book collection soon:

I had a chance to visit the Queer Lens exhibition at the Getty when I was in town earlier this month and found it to be inspiring and learned some things that I hadn't seen other LGBTQ+ photography or art exhibits from previous years. Also picked up the book and am curious to hear your thoughts overall. Maybe we should schedule a chat about soon!?
Drink lots of that H-water. 😉
