They are indeed standing on a sandy beach. I’m not sure if the photo is by Bruce of LA or not, but it does look like his style of outdoor photography. And his kind of models.
I find it fascinating how many of the models posed for several of the same photographers. Long before the internet, these guys were traveling near and far to strike a pose for the camera! I don’t think all of it can be attributed to money either. From my experience in film/tv, most performers need to be seen as much as they need to be paid.
[laughing] As an amateur stage director, I see this similarly with my "community theater" (to use the US term) colleafues. They are keen to appear on stage and receive the applause. It gives them the validation and appreciation that they didn't get from one or both parents.
Don’t even get me started on some of the amateur productions I helped out on. Such fun, but such drama backstage. That said, even the best actors I’ve had the good fortune of working with have struggled with validation and direction. Seems a very human common denominator. If you’ve directed, you know alllllll too well. :-)
