That looks like an amazing production. Light and shadow galore! Cheers, Steve…

I feel you here. Retired this year, so I don't get out of my uns when I'm at home unless I get cold, only dress or dress up in jeans of some kind, polo shirts and my perennial fishing vest to contain all that stuff other people put in pants pockets, when I'm going out, which is (if I can manage it) only about once a week. My cockatiel doesn't care. At 6'2" and 275 lbs, not too many things fit comfortably. If it's a really fancy affair, the pants become khaki slacks of some sort. I haven't owned a suit in several decades.

We definitely share some preferences and fit issues. Cheers, my dears!

I'm not a fan of weddings either - unless the couple is trying something really unique! I also don't like suits and haven't worn a tie in decades. Who ever said a tie makes the man?! They're hard to tie and easy to spill food on! Isn't it time to find a new approach to dressing up?!

Clint Collide's avatar

All of this, Dan. There’s got to be a better way to β€œdress up.” I’m going on a cruise at the end of the month and now refuse to go above and beyond what I like to wear. There will be more pants and button-ups for the cruise, but only because it gets chilly at sea. :-p

Ha! Yeah, I'm so glad most cruise lines have eliminated the requirement that you have to wear a sport jacket for certain dinners. It was an insane rule! Jackets aren't the easiest thing to pack!

I’m with you. My roommate LOVES the dress-up part of cruising. He’s old school. Even though he’s actually younger than me. lol We’re going together on one at the end of the month and I will not be dressing up past a pair of khakis and a button-down. I’m sure he’ll groan and moan. Oh well. He knew what he was getting into when he invited me along. :-p

I'm a professional cellist, so I own several black suits. They're ill fitting, but it doesn't matter because I'm sitting down behind a cello. Last year one of my sons got married, so I wanted a new, well fitted suit that wasn't black Now, I'm 6 feet 6 inches tall and weigh 270. Imagine what I went through to get that! BTW, I'm also a nudist. I'm nude at home almost all the time. I attend nude social events and go to nude resorts. I's all family friendly. So...clothes don't always "make the man"!

Thanks for sharing, Tom. I LOVE the cello. Such a beautiful instrument. As for the challenges of finding a suit, my 6’4” (and currently 350+lb) frame understands all too well. Working on my fitness, but my ideal weight is what you’re rocking. Go, Tom, go. Cheers!

Hola Clint, moi a fashionistas? not on your Nelly. I dress to UN impress if anything 😲 like most things to do with me, I like what I like and once it's on my Rolladex(?) that's it for evermore. During the COVID lock downs I stocked up on T's and polos a couple pairs of jeans and my go to brand of trainers all online, for 'just in case' life got more stupid than it could be in COVID days. Luckily before retiring I could get away with dress pants and white shirt(short sleeved) and tie, no suit, even if I was a government employee 😎 I really could have been mistaken for a Mormon/Latter day saint'er 😁. I guess your doing the correct thing and renting instead of buying a suit for the wedding. Cheers DougT πŸ‡«πŸ‡΄πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

I betcha you’re rocking those tees, polos, and trainers, dear Doug! Love the image of you as a Mormon missionary…it certainly fits. Those boys on bikes were all over one of my old neighborhoods here in LA. So much so they made LATER DAY SAINTS set there. :-p
