Happy Birthday Collide Press. Clint, I understand your love of floor (LOF). Same for me but at 80 I can no longer get down there. Or if I could, would need someone to help me back up 😀. There were a number of "barks" my parents would send my way. TURN OFF THE LIGHTS! DON"T SIT IN THE REFRIGERATOR! DON'T LEAN ON THE DINNER TABLE WITH YOUR ELBOWS. I guess it is the job of parents to BARK! Now as an adult, I leave all the lights in my condo on when I am here. I like it to be bright! I will literally sit on the mail support between the freezer and refrigerator. And when I do so, my heart fills with love for memories of my parents. Wish I could get one more hug! Fondly, Michael
Thank you, Michael. I’m right there with you, wishing I could get more hugs. From my dad…and my mom. The three of us had a complicated if loving relationship. Except for the barking.
As for the floor, I’ve only recently, due to health issues, been able to reliably get back up, so I feel your pain. And sometimes, so does my back. :-p
I did a lot of reading and listening to records (ancient tech) on the floor. Just lots of stuff. I didn't get grief or support for it like you did, but I can relate to what you're saying. And in the Navy there often weren't chairs (those that we had were uncomfortable), so leisure time was spent on our racks (beds) or the floor. Sofas were not generally made for the reading comfort of extra large and long guys, back in the day. I once had a wicker chaise longue that was pretty fine, though.
You’re not the only one who listened to his record player on the floor, Clarke. I spent my early years with what, if memory serves, was a Fisher Price record player. So many 45s, so little time. :-p
Boy am I relieved! Your email subject had me thinking you threw out your back and were stuck on the floor, merely rolling from room to room 😀. Been there done that, but not in a long long time! Glad you are well✅
As for me and airplay it may be time for a new TV– my current one needs new tubes
Thanks for the comment, Terry! I can totally see where that headline might have been misconstrued. And I have, in the past, thrown my back out while relaxing on the floor. And it took FOREVER to get up. lol
Good luck on finding a new tv! I got a new one last summer and was amazed at how cheap they are now. Probably why they don’t last as long as they used to either. :-p
No I have my own little spot being the solo type guy that I am 😎 A new guy has just taken it over so I'll see what he does with it. He had a digital DJ on Friday. So I will make sure I don't go in after 7pm (I'm not really anti social, honest). These digital DJ's just rock up with preloaded play lists, where's the skill in that, 🧐 no disk shuffling or mixing. I'm getting old 😎
Congrats on substack
Still have to figure out if I want to really join it
YouTube seems more than enough for me
So much other stuff to do in the world
BUT
I’ll consider to fully join it because of :
1. Collide Press and Clint
And
2. American Countess
Keep on what you’re doing here
Thankyou
You have great followers too -
Sex on the floor - oh yeah !
( just don’t you use a black light to see if there’s “ stuff “ splashed “ on the surface !
😜
Typing away - nah
Maybe watching tv
Congratulations and thanks for the memories and your comfort of being!!!
Thanks, Larry! Hope you’re having a great weekend…cheers!
