By 2015, visiting Palm Springs for Labor Day had become a tradition.
Same inn, same crew (plus new faces), and that same spark of adventure.
What I remember most about that weekend is the ease of it all—the way the Bearfoot Inn struck this perfect balance between being peaceful and playful. Long afternoons spent by the pool, conversations that wandered deeper than you’d expect, and those in-between moments…quiet, sun-drenched, and blissfully suspended in time.
I may have indulged in a few “extracurricular activities” with both fellow tourists and locals. But I’m not really one to kiss and tell. Mostly. (And keep your mouth shut, Mr. Drewski…you know I know where you live! lol)
Let’s just say that long weekend wasn’t only about pool floats and sunscreen.
To be continued…

I had no idea Bearfoot Inn was there, as I stayed right across the street at Canyon Club (still a gay resort) for a week not many years ago. Unfortunately, from what I can see, Bearfoot Inn (2025) is no more as is the case with several gay resorts in Palm Springs. It is now Terra Palm Springs Wellness Resort open to everyone. Not that many months ago, the former All Worlds Resort which had moved across the street into the former Inn Exile location in Warm Sands was sold to new owners (still a gay resort), and is now called Casa Oliver Hotel & Resort. The new owner has sunk a lot of money into the old resort, and it is looking really nice. Both the indoor and outdoor mazes are still there. Another of my favorite hangouts is Desert Paradise (still a gay resort), which has changed ownership 3 or 4 times since 2017. Dale was the original owner of Desert Paradise for decades, sold out to investors, which has become the case for many gay resorts, then he moved to Florida to retire. It was the only resort which didn't have day passes, and the guests were the only ones present, which made for a very pleasant and personable atmosphere. Hopefully nothing has changed since my last visit. I really love Palm Springs and wish it could just stay the same all the time, but change is inevitably always in the air. Ironically, the first new owners of Desert Paradise after Dale, sold it not long after buying it, then used those funds to build the new Escape Resorts, Bent Inn & Lounge Bar in downtown Las Vegas (one block north of Fremont Street on North 11th Street), it is now the only gay hotel resort in the Las Vegas valley. Sure do miss the former Blue Moon Hotel.
Oh Clint.....all those kiss N tell secrets 😉 we'll have to ply you with drink 😝
However on a different topic it's the Muslim remembrance of Ashura which marks the martydom of a grandson in a battle. I will not go into it as a non Muslim but just say a prominent Shia Muslim 'leader'?) lives very close in my neighborhood and he hosts a local event where after many hours of prayers and speeches the menfolk (usually) strip to the waist and symbolically flagellate themselves in a tour of the neighbourhood. This year the march was led by a 'warrior horse's as the Brandon was dragged from his battle horse and killed (martydom). The article I have posted is from the internet. So no hate directed towards me please, I'm just an everyday open minded Brit.
