One month ago today, a team of movers rolled up to my old place in Los Angeles and whisked most of my life into a truck bound for my new home in Pasadena. Not far, but just far enough to be both familiar and new.
Since then—aside from a quick hotel stay in Anaheim—I’ve slept here every night. But it hasn’t been all scented candles and cozy evenings.
The past month has been a blur of moving boxes, deep cleans, and those “wait, where did I put that?” scavenger hunts that only moving can inspire.
While the movers got the big stuff handled in a single day, the rest took much longer.
I finally wrapped up my old place on Tuesday, tying up loose ends, getting trashed hauled, and making one too many back-and-forth trips. It’s hard to fully settle into a new chapter when you’re still closing out the last one.
But I don’t have that excuse anymore.
Today, for the first time in over a month, I have nowhere to be, nothing outside of my new place I need to do. Except the usual errands and the occasional doctor visit, my to-do list outside these walls is officially complete. For now anyway.
And as luck (or fate) would have it, today is National Relaxation Day. So I’m going to celebrate it with the enthusiasm of someone ready, willing, and able to finally relax.
Frankie Goes to Hollywood can “don’t do it” all he wants, but Clint Goes to Pasadena plans to finish a montage, take a nap, and unpack a few boxes today.
In fact, from here on out, I’m in full nesting mode—hanging art, figuring out what to keep or let go, and making my new place a home.
I’m also making space for more rest and relaxation. More Netflix, more chill, more walks, and more talks with my dears, nears, and/or queers.
But first…I’m firing up my editing software to finally finish a montage I’ve been (slowly) working on for the past week. Coming later today to Substack and YouTube!
This “Stella” is finally getting his groove back—with a new home, a fresh start, and creative juices flowing again. All worthy of celebrating. In my book anyway.
Thank you for being a (patient) friend!

HOLIDAYS + OBSERVANCES
PORTRAIT + QUOTES OF THE DAY
“To design is much more than simply to assemble, to order, or even to edit: it is to add value and meaning, to illuminate, to simplify, to clarify, to modify, to dignify, to dramatize, to persuade, and perhaps even to amuse. To design is to transform prose into poetry.”
Paul Rand
“I was too practical to want to be a painter.”
