The weather here in Southern California rarely strays from the script: sunny to partly sunny to partly cloudy on a dependable loop that keeps us spoiled and sun-kissed most of the year.
But last night, the sky turned a dramatic, moody gray. And around bedtime, the skies finally opened up and rain poured. Real, steady, drumming-on-the-rooftop rain. The kind that hushes the world and invites you to curl up under a blanket and close your eyes for a good night’s rest.
It’s still raining outside my window as I write this, a rare and gentle soundtrack to ease me into the day. I’ll enjoy it while it lasts….
I got a later start than usual writing today’s newsletter. I woke up and had a lovely early-morning video call with a friend halfway around the world. Our conversation lingered like a favorite song: comforting, full of laughter, and light. It was the kind of exchange that reminds me how deeply connection matters, no matter the distance or mode of communication.
Now, with the call over and rain slowing down, I feel renewed. Slowed down too. Grounded in the quiet beauty of it all.
Sometimes all it takes is a little rain and a good conversation to wash the dust off my spirit and remind me how sweet life really is.
Thank you for being a friend!
