The thing about moving—it’s exhausting, emotional, and often overwhelming.
But at times, it can feel like an archaeological dig. Beneath the layers of dust and long-forgotten receipts, hidden treasures lie: handwritten notes, ticket stubs, faded photos, and memories tucked away in random boxes and notebooks.
In the past week, I’ve stumbled across so much figurative and literal gold while sorting through the leftover ephemera in my old place, I’m actually kind of excited to get back to digging today.
I have uncovered things I didn’t even know I had saved—and things I didn’t realize I had missed. Old letters from friends I’ve lost touch with. Scribbled ideas for projects that never quite got off the ground. A necklace that vanished years ago. And even a small stash of actual gold—mostly jewelry, but a few coins too.
Some of it makes me laugh. Some makes me cringe. And some makes me cry.
These artifacts remind me of who I’ve been, what I’ve survived, and what I’ve carried with me, physically and emotionally, all this time.
The process can be messy and time-consuming. So I’m counting my lucky stars to have some help. Two dear friends have shown up, not just to sort through the stuff, but to keep me grounded and on track. I honestly don’t know how I’ll ever thank them enough for helping me figure out what’s worth bringing into my next chapter.
So today, I’ll put on some good music and we’ll keep on digging.
Because who knows what treasure might turn up next?
Keep calm and carry on!
