This is also true, though we loath to admit it, of some impressions we gain here on a platform like this. That one read may change a person’s life, or at least a perspective. Sometime we don’t ever know who we have touched in the way you describe.
For all the angst attached by some to social media, there are quiet connections which endure, even if the people never meet at all. Influence over the ether? You cannot tell me we don’t get a sense, a vibration, from who is at the other end of a text. I’d say we do more often than not, while neglecting to listen to it.
If anything has become certain in this year of instability, it is we should rely more upon our instincts to recognize and hold what is good, no definition, thumb up or heart tap necessary. Thank you for this reminder.
Thank you, dear on. I do wish the algorithms and platforms amplified these quiet, meaningful connections more. Instead of the click and rage baits that have become all too common. I cherish the community here on Substack and find it stands high above the others, for me anyway. Appreciate you being part of that community of thoughtful creatives. Cheers!
You also never know what great things can come for others in their brief contacts with you. I've been humbled a number of times by people who shouldn't have remembered me, but did, and did so quite favorably. I'd bet you have touched a LOT of people for the good and not heard about it...yet.
True, true, true. It’s said that we are a different person to everyone we meet; that they see us in the context of their own lives. And that we, as individuals, are the only ones who never see ourselves as others see us. But some people have an extra spark orbiting them, seeking out resonance with another. It’s quite something to behold when we are resonated by them! The effect never leaves us and that’s magical.
I agree our host Clint is one of the rare ones who manages to do that from afar.
You’ve touched me, Clarke. And I appreciate all your kindness and thoughtfulness. Now wash (and watch) those hands! :-p Keep laughing and shining, my friend. Cheers!

Thanks Clint and Truman. 🌈🌈🏳🌈🏳🌈 My favorite by Capote is Handcarved Coffins.
Thanks, Steve! It’s been so long since I’ve read Capote, I’m not even sure what I have and haven’t read. Time to get on that. :-)

Thank you, Terry for the kind words. I appreciate how we all add to making this space more friendly and fun! Cheers, my dears.

A beautiful truth, as some people do enter your field of existence for a few minutes and their presence is felt ever more! Thank You, Clint!!
It’s so true, Larry. I’ve had several people I’ve never met make my world immeasurably better for simply being alive and shining their light.
Thanks for sharing such a nice sentiment. The underlying emotional significance of your words about connections cannot be emphasized enough.
Thank you, Jeff. Cheers to all kinds of connections and emotions.
